Certification ceremony in Gozo for Gozitan educators

General Comments Off on Certification ceremony in Gozo for Gozitan educators

On Tuesday 14th June, teachers from the Gozo College participated in a ceremony organised by the Let Me Learn (LML) Malta Centre, which rewarded them with a certificate for successfully completing the training and/or mentoring in the Let Me Learn Professional Learning Process. LML is an advanced learning system that is built on the idea that each and every one of us is a unique learner. The LML process gives students and their teachers an understanding of who they are as learners and a vocabulary to communicate this with each other. This self awareness leads to the development of learner specific strategies maximising learning potential. Educators present for the ceremony shared their Let Me Learn journey and plans for further collaboration were discussed. The Gozo College continues in its efforts to use the Let Me Learn Process as a tool which equips its educators with skills and techniques aimed at reaching all learners.

Let Me Learn in collaboration with the Writing Process and Literacy Support Group

Mr Jason Gauci, dyslexia specialist, is coordinating the collaboration of Let Me Learn, Writing Process and Literacy Support within the church primary schools. This team of professionals is already embarking on a number of projects. A year 2 class in St Benild’s School is currently doing a session of writing, incorporating the four learning patterns and a variety of skills, while exploring the topic of Farm Animals.

Another very interesting event was the ‘Little Literates’ activity which was organised by the same group of people. Students from grade 3 classes in church schools have been invited to Valletta for an activity which revolved around writing using the four LML characters, Geru, Fina, Faru and Zringi. The students excitedly walked from the Auberge D’Italie, to the Manoel Theatre, and also to the Museum of Fine Arts, doing a variety of activities at each station.

Students were engaged in tasks such as hunting for a treasure, building a galleon and also writing their own story. This was an extremely successful event in which students experienced writing through fun activities. Photos of the event are shown below.

Let Me Learn Mentoring

One of the services offered by the LML Centre is the mentoring that is given to all teachers who have completed the LML Professional Learning Process. Mentoring is also offered to all teachers who have completed 4 ECTS of Let Me Learn Credits during their B.ED course. When a teacher applies for mentoring, he/she receives in-class support in the implementation of the Let Me Learn Process.

General Comments Off on The Let Me Learn Professional Learning Process 2012

The Let Me Learn Professional Learning Process has come to an end. This year we have a group of teachers, LSAs, EOs and school administrators from a number of state and church schools including schools from Gozo. The teachers have had awareness sessions done with their students, they have administered and completed the LCIs and also completed their class profiles. The teachers have worked beautifully on lessons incorporating the LML Process. The training ended with the participants giving their final presentations. Well done to all the participants for the excellent work!

Should you require more information about the Let Me Learn training, kindly download the application form (insert link) or contact our office on 2340 2554. The circular for the next cohort will be distributed in schools at the beginning of the next scholastic year.
